BENCHLIGHT ASSISTANT GUIDE
Use Benchlight from ChatGPT or Claude.
Connect Benchlight as a custom connector in ChatGPT or Claude. It is not listed in either public directory yet.
The connector lets you link your own Benchlight account, create and update private website drafts, review previews and check project status from your conversation.
What you can do.
- Create a simple starter website from business details or supply built website files.
- Save an updated private draft as a new version while leaving the published website unchanged.
- List your own websites and read their status.
- Open a private preview for a selected draft version.
- Look up domain registration records without claiming a domain can be bought.
Private draft creation, editing and previews have been tested in the actual ChatGPT and Claude clients.
Start directly on Benchlight.
You can also start a private website draft with your business name, services and contact details. Sign in or create your workspace first. No domain is needed to start; choose one when you add the draft to a website. Starter drafts can be edited here, and the website keeps its own copy when you add one.
Purchases and public publishing stay with you.
The connector prepares drafts and reports project status. Domain purchases, hosting purchases and public publishing are separate actions you complete on Benchlight’s website.
Apps with server code, databases, accounts, payments or provider-backed forms need separate transfer checks. A browser-page preview does not prove those services are working.
Set up your custom connection.
Use https://benchlight.dev/mcp as the server URL. Choose OAuth sign-in and automatic client registration when asked. Client labels can vary by account or plan.
In ChatGPT
- Open Plugins, choose Add, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it Benchlight, enter the server URL and keep OAuth selected.
- Create the plugin, connect your Benchlight account, then choose Try in chat.
In Claude
- Open Customize, then Connectors. Choose Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Benchlight and enter the server URL. Continue with Sign in now and Register automatically.
- Add the connector, choose Connect and approve the Benchlight connection.
Sign in with the emailed code, then approve the websites permission. Ask your assistant to save a website as a private Benchlight draft. Preview links are private links, not a public website address. Share them only with their intended viewers.
Connect your account.
Sign in with an emailed six-digit code inside the connection window, then review and approve the requested websites permission. The MCP server URL is https://benchlight.dev/mcp; this is not an install link.
The connector accepts static HTML, CSS and JavaScript, images and fonts, with up to 100 files and 3 MB per request. Include assets in the files rather than relying on an external CDN. Server code and forms are outside this draft flow; email and phone links can work.
Drafts stay separate from your dashboard websites until you choose to add one to a website in Benchlight. That creates a new version and leaves the published site unchanged.
Files, preview links and disconnection.
Files sent to the connector are stored privately in Benchlight storage. Drafts expire 30 days after their last change, with up to ten recent versions retained. A draft added to a website leaves a separate copy in that website. Private preview links expire after 60 minutes; anyone with a valid link can access its selected draft version.
Access tokens last one hour. Refresh tokens last 30 days and rotate when used. Disconnecting an assistant revokes its tokens immediately; already-issued preview links stop working when they expire, within 60 minutes.
Manage or disconnect assistants from Connected assistants. To move a draft into your dashboard, open Website drafts, sign in with the same email address, and add it to a website. The website keeps its own copy.
